Malaysian's copyright industries are a vital part of
the country's economy and copyright theft threatens
economic growth and cultural contributions to our
society.
Piracy affects not just big production and
distribution companies but also independent film and
television producers and cinema owners, DVD retail
stores, small franchise businesses, and all the
people they employ. This includes the illegal downloading and distribution of films.
Piracy hurts all Malaysians since they don't pay
tax on the illegal copies they distribute or sell,
thus not contributing to the welfare of all
